This hand-knotted Persian Bakhtiari rug measures 9’1” by 12’, offering a striking combination of traditional artistry and substantial size. Bakhtiari rugs are known for their durability and dense wool pile, which makes them ideal for high-traffic areas while maintaining their luxurious texture. The rug’s intricate design reflects the heritage of the Bakhtiari tribal weavers, who often incorporate balanced geometric layouts and rich floral detailing.
The centerpiece of this rug is a bold medallion surrounded by layers of floral and vine motifs in deep reds, blues, and ivory tones. This color palette is characteristic of Bakhtiari craftsmanship, emphasizing earthy warmth and visual depth. The contrast between the vibrant central field and the dark, detailed border creates a harmonious framing effect, drawing the eye naturally toward the medallion.
Hand-knotted construction means that each knot was individually tied, contributing to the rug’s strength and longevity. This meticulous method produces a dense weave that enhances the clarity of the patterns and ensures that the rug can last for generations with proper care. The slight variations in color and texture are hallmarks of authentic handwoven pieces, giving it a unique character that machine-made rugs cannot replicate.
At 9’1”x12’, this Persian Bakhtiari rug is versatile enough to anchor a formal living room, dining area, or open lounge space. Beyond its functional use as a floor covering, it serves as a statement piece that reflects centuries of Persian weaving tradition. Its combination of size, craftsmanship, and timeless design makes it a valuable addition to any home or collection.
