Woven in the storied city of Qum, this 3’4” x 5’ silk Persian rug carries the soul of a garden in full bloom. Its black field forms a dramatic night sky, against which turquoise arches and delicate blossoms seem to glow like lanterns in a moonlit courtyard. Petal by petal, vine by vine, the weaver’s vision unfolds, drawing the eye toward a central medallion that feels like the heart of the garden itself, pulsing with quiet elegance.
Signed by the master Akbari, this rug is not merely a textile but a declaration of pride and artistry. The signature whispers of the weaver’s hands, patiently tying each knot, as though inscribing a story into silk. Every curve of the arabesques and every burst of floral detail speaks to the meditative rhythm of creation, a rhythm unchanged for centuries in the weaving workshops of Qum.
The colors in this piece are chosen with the precision of a painter’s brush: deep reds enriched by the warm glow of silk, soft ivories nestled against luminous turquoise, and subtle hints of gold that catch the light as one moves around the rug. The fine knotting allows each intricate motif to emerge with crisp clarity, like tiny mosaics that shift and shimmer under changing light. One can imagine this rug unfurled in a sunlit room, its surface alive with reflections that transform throughout the day.
Beyond its visual splendor, the rug holds a sense of timelessness, as if it has trapped the tranquility of a Persian garden within its threads. Owning this Akbari-signed Qum rug is to inherit a fragment of living history—an intimate artwork that bridges craft and poetry, tradition and beauty. It is not just a floor covering, but a story told in silk, waiting for its next chapter to unfold in the home it graces.
